fancy women bike ride
It was held every year on the 3rd Sunday of September. In order to raise awareness, women were called to decorate their bicycles and themselves, and over the years, thousands of women supported this call with their participation.
Over the past eleven years, the event has crossed borders and mobilized women in thirty countries, creating a sense of community and empowerment.
why?
It is a grassroots movement that started in Izmir in 2013.
It was held once a year and the event was open to everyone.
Participation in this tour is free of charge and no registration is required.
Its aim is to encourage more women to cycle and to demand safe bicycle transportation infrastructure from municipalities.
From where?
Fancy Women Bike Ride is an awareness event.
The bicycle ride is done as a “decorative” ride to attract the attention of the municipality and the ministry. It is a fun way for women who want to travel safely by bicycle to convey their demand for bicycle paths and services.
When
The tour was held simultaneously in all cities on the third Sunday of September every year for 11 years. The Fancy Women Bike Tour ended in 2023. We do not have any new events.
who
It was organized by volunteer women in different cities each year. The coordination of the events in Türkiye was done by Sema Gür and those in all other countries by Pınar Pinzuti.
